Our Tic Tac Toe pouches
We were so proud of our sewing efforts this week when we completed our hessian pouches as part of our fabric and fibre art experience. It was really tricky at times. We had to thread the needles and then sew the seams in and out using small running stitches. Sometimes we got a bit tangled up, but no worries, Mrs Haynes and our senior buddies helped to sort this out. Then we had to stitch the draw string through and attach beads to it. Mrs Haynes then gave us our coloured stones and we were ready to play tic tac toe with a buddy.  So it was all worth it!
Mrs Haynes said she was so proud of our positive attitude because we kept on trying and never gave up!

We hope you like our pouches

Swimming - Week 2

As you can see by these delightful photos, the children have made amazing progress in swimming and had heaps of fun on Friday. They experienced what it was like to wear a life jacket in the water and to ride in a dinghy even during somewhat 'rough' seas! Their expressions say it all.

Our first week of swimming at Wharenui
The first day the children were put into groups according to their swimming skills. They had a lot of fun and I could already see progress by the end of the week. We didn't even lose much clothing! I hope you enjoy these pictures and can work out who is who in some cases!
